Everyone wants to know the
same things about retirement: -
How much do we have to save? -
Can we retire now? -
How long will our money last? -
What can we spend? -
What investment returns do we need? -
How much risk do we have to take? -
Can we afford to make gifts to our children?
The retirement environment
is complex. There are so many variables to consider:
inflation, return on investment, spending. Some
accounts, such as retirement plans and IRAs get
special favorable tax treatment. Some do not. To
answer the questions above, we compute cash flows
for every year between now and the death of the
retirees.
Our first meeting will be to
gather and review your retirement data and goals.
We have to obtain a very good understanding of your
overall financial situation. We need to know many
things about you. At our second meeting we will
review our report with you. We will examine the
consequences of the analysis. If you run out of
money too early, we will discuss alternatives such
as retiring later, working part-time, etc. If desired,
we can investigate the impact of changed assumptions.
We would report these revised results in a third
meeting. Our retirement planning services are usually
included at no extra charge as part of our investment
advisory fee. (See fee schedule for exceptions.)
